We'd like your opinion!
OK, I know it’s been a while since I wrote my last Editor’s Comment, but all of us here have been really busy working hard to improve HerSexToyBox. For those of you who are regular visitors I’m sure you’ve noticed all of the new items that have been added and hopefully your notice improvements in your search results as we’ve improved the product organization. It’s exciting to watch HerSexToyBox getting better and better. And, I’m happy to report that even more improvements are soon to come.
Now let’s get to my comment. I’ve noticed lately that there seem to be an industry trend towards opening mega adult retail stores and lately mega adult toy websites are getting more popular. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that we have also considered doing the same thing. It is amazing the number of new toys becoming available and even the number of new companies is staggering. In fact we have even gone so far as to survey the customers who visit our retail store. The problem is simple, just keep adding products and hope our customers are willing to search through them until they find exactly what they want, or limit the selection and risk the chance that customers may not find what they are looking for. It’s sort of sounds like a classic chicken and egg question doesn’t it? For now we have decided to limit our inventory to about 2500 quality products. We think that should give our customers a good selection while not being overwhelming.

Are Adult Home Parties Really Worth It?
We are constantly asked to supply products for people who want to do adult sex parties as a part time business. And although it is tempting to add those sales to our bottom line we have decided not to pursue that business at this time. Some of our competitors think we are nuts! They say things like, “Look at what happened with Tupperware”. Let me take a few moments to explain our position.
First, unless there is some fetish I’m not aware of nobody ever put a piece of Tupperware into or onto their body. Second, we take pride in the fact that we do our best to supply our customers with good products at a fair price. And finally, we also do our best to give customers accurate information so that they can make an informed decision when it comes to making such a personal purchase. It is simply amazing some of the questions that we are asked by customers, and many times those questions are as a result of some uniformed, although well intentioned, home show demonstrator anxious to make a sale giving them incorrect or incomplete information. In spite of the fact that we think everyone is entitled to make a living, product knowledge is a must when it comes to sex toys and many of the other adult related products that are available. And then there is the pricing! I recently talked to a customer who purchased a product at a home party that we sell on this website for $24.75 plus $6.95 for shipping. She paid $130.00 for that same item. Now I also think business people are entitled to make a profit but the only thing missing in that transaction was a gun!
I think I also need to say something in defense of home parties and I will. These home parties are introducing thousands of customers to products that they may not otherwise have ever been exposed to. That is a good thing for many people. But in an industry where there are only a handful of large distributors and a multitude of smaller companies making a huge amount of knock-offs it is our decision to carefully selected and deal with the companies that our 30 plus years of experience tells us are the best. We will also continue to offer our customers those quality products at the best price possible. And as always if you need a question answered just ask.
Just for the record it should also be said that not all home show demonstrators give bad advice or are interested in making a quick profit. In fact, there are many knowledgeable and capable demonstrators doing good things for their customers. All we are suggesting is that when you’re at one of these sex toy parties do not make an impulse purchase. Do your homework and pick a toy that meets your needs. And when you finally find a company, be it ours or another, that gives you good service at a fair price – stick with that company. Remember there are professionals in the sex toy industry just like there are professionals in just about every other industry. Seek them out because in the long run it will pay off!

Look for clues!
I’m often asked by customers if they are actually dealing
with our company directly or is our website just a gateway into
some other company’s website. The truth is there are literally
thousands of these so called “affiliate” websites
that sell sex toys and many of them do their best to conceal that
fact from their customers. I’m not necessarily saying they
are bad but it’s pretty hard to get some actual personalized
service from them. And heaven forbid you actually have a question
you want answered. Here’s a clue – Did you find a
toll free telephone number on their website? Probably not! Is
there a copy write statement at the bottom of the page that doesn’t
match the website name? There’s another hint! Does it have
a cookie cutter look to it? There’s another red flag!

their customers to be their most valuable asset. With a bit of
research you should be able to tell who the best companies are

No
Vibe is Created Equal
Over the years I have heard many a debate over the “perfect
vibe”. Why is it that consensus can never be met on what the
perfect qualities for a personal massager should be?
“This one is absolutely perfect! It has a rotating
shaft and a clit stimulator that are both independently controlled.”
“I don’t really like the little clit massager, it’s
too intense.”
“Really?! I would be happy with just that!”
“I might be happy with just that too, but with both it’s
too much.”
“What would your favorite be then?”
“Believe it or not, I prefer a plain jelly

“Yeah? But then you have to do all the
work. Not me, I want all the bells and whistles. I want clit stim,

These are just a few snippets from some of the
many conversations that have taken place in my presence. Luckily the

Something
to think about
Because our website is designed for women we hear from them all the
time about all sorts of sexual issues. And frankly we enjoy hearing
from our customers because their input can only help to make HerSexToyBox
better. We know that men are also visiting our site but we rarely
get comments from them and that sort of started us thinking. We figure
that the old complaint that many women have about their men not telling
them things is probably the same reason why we aren’t hearing
from them either. So ladies, we thought we’d share with you
some of the stuff about sex that we know your guys are thinking and
may never tell you. For some these things may be obvious to others
we hope it either promotes some dialog with your partner or at least
makes you think.
1. In spite of the fact that most men like to feel that they are in
control during sex that is really the time when they are the most
vulnerable. During sex is the one time he really feels like he “has
to” perform. If you criticize him in bed, he will remember your
negative comments for a very long time, and even worse, if they persist,
he’ll avoid having sex with you all together to avoid feeling
inadequate. He may even try to find another partner that makes him
feel special. So, if you have a problem we don’t think you should
ignore it, but discuss it rationally with him when you’re not
actually having sex, you’ll find him to much more receptive
to your comments. The one thing you can never take back is a harsh
word.
2. Tell him when he is doing something that pleases you. If he is
good at doing one thing tell him how much it turns you on. You’ll
soon find him doing it to you more often and he may also be more likely
to try some other new things. He must do a few things right or you
probably wouldn’t be with him to begin with.
3. Realize that most men are visual creatures. They are usually turned
on by what they see. That means you. Let him look at you, wear a sexy

be touched, etc. He obviously likes how you look or he wouldn’t
be with you in the first place. And keep in mind women are usually

Smiles
in every box
I was reminded by one of our customers today in a “thank you”
note that she sent us how here at HerSexToyBox we sell a lot more
than adult products. We also help to make people happy. I know it
sounds a bit corny but let me share with you a bit of what she said
in her note.
First, she described the fun she had searching through all the products
and trying to find the toy that was just right. I guess because I'm
so close to our product line I sort of forget just how entertaining
looking at the pictures and reading the descriptions can be. Then
she described how after she placed her order she started to anticipate
its delivery.I guess it's true that “Anticipation” is
not just a good Carly Simon song, but it's also a pretty cool emotion
as well. At last the box showed up and for the first time in a long
time she was actually happy to see the mailman. We ship all of our
products by US Priority Mail, if the postman only knew! That night
couldn't come fast enough. She had the whole evening planned. And
finally, her newest sex toy got to do its stuff. I don't think I need
to describe the ultimate outcome – let's just say she was happy
with the results. On a personal note it is nice to know when one of
our toys finds a nice new home.
Now
every time we pack an order we know that there are also smiles going
into every box!

Rabbits...
Rabbits... Rabbits!!!
I
don't know how you feel about it, but I think this Rabbit thing is
getting a bit out of hand. Look I grant you that the “Original
Jack Rabbit” is an awesome sex toy. I'm sure that's why
these toys are now, and have been for some time, so very popular with
our customers both online and in our store. And then when I saw the
new “Impulse
Jack Rabbit” for the first time I was equally impressed
with that toy. But come on all ready! There are more companies making
rabbit
vibes everyday. I can hardly keep track of them all, let alone
recommend one to our customers. They seem to be multiplying faster
than real rabbits. Soon we will all be over run with rabbit vibes.
I'm sure even the Energizer Bunny is a bit overwhelmed. Just for fun,

it. I have to admit I'm curious
One can only begin to imagine what the next hot, animal inspired sex

As
I sat here trying to come up with what to write about this month,
I was thinking back on all of the ways that I've seen this business
change in the last 30 years. And so I thought, why not write about
that? I actually remember selling our customers 8MM films for their
home projectors that had no sound and I have to admit they were also
pretty poor quality. Today DVD’s are as common as ever and not
only do they offer hours of erotic adult entertainment but their quality
continues to improve and improve. Sex toys use to be ugly, rubber,
not very realistic looking, and they didn't always vibrated very well.
Many of the vibrators we sold looked like they should have come from
the hardware store rather than a sex shop. Today we enjoy sex toys
made of truly awesome materials, in a huge selection of lifelike products
that continue to amaze me. And the sex shops themselves were usually
located in the bad parts of town and you didn't want anyone you knew
to accidentally see you there. Today stores like ours are well lit,
stylish, and have even become a place to meet others who shared your
interest. As for lubricants – your choices at one time were
KY, KY, and KY. Now there are a variety of personal lubricants to
match almost any purpose, need, and/or taste. I even remember when
a deck of x-rated playing cards could cost as much as $100 (if you
could find them), and now less than $10 is about the norm. And then
came the Internet, the greatest invention since the VCR. In literally
moments you have the ability to view thousands of adult items in the
privacy of your own home, and have any of those items delivered discreetly
to your front door. We really do live in wonderful times.
But,
I must admit I do miss some things. Like the look of old fashioned
stockings. Like some of the mystery that now somehow seems to be lost.
And the fun of finding a sex shop, working up the nerve to sneak in,
picking out a sex toy, and then bringing it home to your partner in
a plain brown bag. Now that was fun! But things don't stay the same
forever, now it's nice to know that our Internet customers look forward
to their deliveries from us with equal enthusiasm, and we are extremely

LET'S
SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT
It seems that one
of the large adult stores recently did a survey to prove why more
people don't buy sex toys online. According to their information people
use the Internet for research, but they don't buy sex toys online
for two reasons. First, they are afraid their personal information
will be used somehow and then suddenly they will start getting emails
from other adult websites or even worse snail mail at their home.
Second, they are concerned about giving their credit card information
over the Internet for fear that some employee may steal their information
and use it to commit credit card fraud. I think that most people will
agree that purchasing a sex toy is probably one of the most personal
purchases most people will ever make and just the thought that someone
somewhere may be keeping a record of your purchase is enough to scare
most people off.
Look
I'm not naive enough to believe that it doesn't happen – some
websites actually have you register before you can even make a purchase
– what's that all about? But, after reading this information
I was compelled to set the record straight, or at least as it applies
to HerSexToyBox.com. As to the first point, your personal information,
is not kept on file. Once it is clear that the products have been
successfully delivered, all order forms are shredded. We do not now
nor will we ever trade, sell, or in anyway exchange your personal
information with any other company or individual. End of story. On
the second point, all credit card information supplied is secure both
online and at our office. Once your credit card is processed the only
numbers that ever appear at HerSexToyBox are the last four digit of
your credit card number. We do not keep nor do we have access to your
credit card information once your credit card purchase is approved.
And
last but not least, we have spent the last 30 years supplying the
adult product needs of our customers. We are not new to this and because
of our experience we realize the trust our customers place in us.
Our business reputation is as important to us as the service that
we provide to our family of happy customers..

As
we are about to enter our second year on the internet (thirty-one
years in our store), I’d like to take a few moment to thank
both our new and our repeat customers for making HerSexToyBox such
an overwhelming success. Most of the comments you have sent us suggesting
improvements to the site have been implemented and we intend to make
the site even better in the year 2005. Let me share with you some
of the things we will be doing in the next year. This section of the
website will be used to keep our customers both entertained and informed.
Obviously, this is the first monthly installment of what will become
a regular monthly feature. We will also be adding a variety of new
products not only from our existing manufacturers but also from several
new companies. Each week we intend to “feature” a product
and not only will we describe it but we will also explain how to use
it as well. And there are also some other ambitious new features that
we hope to surprise you with over the next couple of months.
Now
that we are in the midst of the holiday season, the New Year beacons
us, and Valentines Day isn’t really that far away, we hope you
continue to use HerSexToyBox for all of your adult product needs and
we hope you will consider telling your friends about us.
